Brain Blaster Programmes For Primary & Secondary Schools

Turn your students into independent learners and thinkers!

Make them more resilient and encourage them to preserve!

Welcome to Brain Blaster!

Brain Blaster is a completely new concept in school workshops. Nothing like this have ever been done before! With your students in teams, it uses audio-visual mind trickery, bizarre maths, 3D team challenges, blindfolded fishing and Big Ben's chimes... all in your school hall and with up to 300 of your students per day.

The theories are based on Art L Costa's 'Habits of Mind' - a series of life skills which every person needs in order to confront and overcome problems and challenges and operate effectively in society.

This brand new set of workshops will help to arm your students with the skills to work through real life challenges and situations, allowing them to respond with awareness, creativity and deliberate strategies, in order to achieve a positive outcome. It will help them to become resilient and encourage them to persevere.

" Brain Blaster proved to be an exceptional experience for our students. Across the year groups, the children engaged with the challenges and they had fun. They investigated, innovated and strategised. It encouraged them to problem solve, think independently and flexibly, persevere, question and be more resillent. They developed skills of listening to others and working well in teams. I cannot recommend the Brain Blaster day highly enough. Its an absolute must-have for every school "
Alison Jacob, Headteacher, Edgware Primary School

Every student is good at something. As teachers, you want to help each one to find out what that is, and then nurture it. However, you don’t just want your students to be good at what they do, you want them to be AWESOME at it, and we are about to help YOUR students to get there.

"Every single student was focussed and motivated for the whole time"

"An excellent day. The children were completely thrilled by the challenges. It was great to see them working together as a team and suceeding!"

What the students do

Programmes vary according to Key Stage and all activities are differentiated according to ability and age group, but here is a taster.

Solving the longest equation in history!

24 3D numbers, eight operations and one challenge… to arrange all of them into one giant CORRECT equation. It sounds impossible, but with effective teamwork and some logical reasoning, the answer is suddenly obvious! (KS 2,3,4)

Blindfolded fishing!

This is all about effective communication. Two blindfolded fishermen sitting on the sea shore need to be guided by the rest of the team to catch a sequence of fish – without getting their rods tangled! (KS R, 1, 2, 3,4)

Happy Puzzle fraction formula game

The cleverest weight challenge ever!

Teams have three containers, a series of weights and some a set of traditional weighing scales. The challenge is straightforward – work out how to divide the weights amongst the containers so that each one holds an identical weight. Sounds easy? Not a chance! (KS 1,2, 3, 4)

Big Ben's chimes!

This devilish challenge asks each team to make the bells chime in sequence and in time without touching them. It all becomes possible through constructing a tower that drops the ball onto the bells, then slides across to the next… if you’ve built the tower correctly! (KS 1, 2, 3, 4)

Please note that workshop challenges may vary for different schools.
